Yoshino is a town on a slope. Trains and buses here have little luggage space, and stations have stairs. Almost everyone enjoys this trip more with a small bag.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT FROM A HOTEL
- You sleep on a futon laid on a tatami floor, not a bed. It is firmer and lower than most people expect
- Shoes come off at the entrance, and there are separate slippers for the bathroom
- Meals happen at set times, often in a shared dining room
- Walls are thinner than in a hotel

なぜここに 「泊まらないと手に入らない」がサイト全体の主張なのに、泊まるとは具体的に何なのかが、いまどこにも書かれていません。
短所を書くのが要点です。 豪 Intrepid Travel は商品ページで「畳に敷いた布団と、他の宿泊客との距離の近さは、誰にとっても西洋式ホテルほど快適とはかぎりません」と書いています。これを先に読んで離脱する方は、当日がっかりする方よりずっとありがたい方です。

THE BATH
You bathe with other people, and without clothes.
This is the part visitors ask about most and admit to least. It is straightforward once you know the order, and it is worth doing.
THE ORDER OF OPERATIONS
- 1. Leave your clothes in a basket in the changing room. Take only the small hand towel in with you
- 2. Sit on a low stool at the taps. Wash and rinse thoroughly here, before you go anywhere near the bath
- 3. Test the water, then get in slowly. It is hotter than you are used to
- 4. Keep the small towel out of the water. Tie long hair up
- 5. Get out, wash again, get back in as often as you like
THE RULES THAT MATTER
- No clothing in the bath — not even a swimming costume
- Do not get soap in the bath water
- Do not jump in, swim or splash
- Do not pull the plug. The water is shared and stays in
- Remove jewellery — mineral water discolours it
Curtains at the entrance are usually red for women and blue for men, and they are sometimes swapped between morning and evening.

FOOD AND DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
What we can do, and what we cannot.
Meals at a Japanese inn are set menus — a number of small dishes, balanced against each other, decided by the kitchen rather than chosen from a list. They are one of the best parts of staying here, and they are not assembled to order.

なぜここに Oku Japan（奥ジャパン）の食事ページは、できないことを正面から書いています——「ヴィーガンの選択肢は限られます」「醤油と味噌にはグルテンが微量含まれます」「dashi（魚の出汁）を受け入れられるかどうかを教えてください」。
これは欧米豪の商談で必ず聞かれる項目です。 旅程に旅館の夕食が含まれているのに対応可否が書かれていないと、そこで検討が止まります。「できません」も立派な答えで、書いてあれば相手は別の判断ができます。
期限を書くのが要点です。 「予約時に教えてください」と書いておかないと、当日の朝に言われて厨房が困ります。

A WORKING SACRED MOUNTAIN
These are places of practice, not monuments.
Shugendo has been practised in these mountains for about 1,300 years, and it is still practised. The paths above Yoshino are training routes that people use. You are welcome on them. You are not asked to believe anything. You are asked to behave as the people who work here do.

| Access for women on the Omine range | 要確認 ── 掲載前に寺院・先方の確認が必要 Mt. Omine (Sanjogatake), further south along the Omine Okugake pilgrimage trail, has a section that women are not permitted to enter. Nara Prefecture's own English travel guide states this and notes that there are signs in several languages at the point where the trail divides; walkers who cannot or do not wish to go that way take the path down to Dorogawa Onsen instead. Yoshinoyama town and the walks immediately above it are outside the restricted section. Whether an individual guided route enters a restricted area is being confirmed for each experience, and we will state the answer on that experience's own page. なぜここに これは奈良県の公式英語サイト（Visit Nara）が英語で明記している事実です——「Women are not permitted to enter Mt. Omine, and there are signs in several languages to make this clear」。修験道を英語で売りながら、この点に触れないという選択肢はありません。
同時に、書き方を誤ると吉野全体が女人禁制だと読まれます。 吉野山の町と山上の道は対象外で、Visit Nara の行程も女性は洞川温泉へ下る形で書かれています。「どこが対象で、どこが対象でないか」をセットで書くのが唯一の正解です。
ただし「本サイトの体験はすべて対象外」とは、まだ書けません。 各ガイド商品のルートが該当区間に入るかを照合していないためです。今日（8/25）の打ち合わせでうかがう項目のひとつです。それまでは英語本文の側で「確認中」と書き、断定しません。
金峯山寺・櫻本坊に関わる記載と同じく、掲載前に確認をお願いする箇所として黄色い印を付けています。
MONEY, SIGNAL AND THE REST

Yoshino is a small town. Some shops, and possibly some inns, take cash only, and mobile signal drops on the paths above the town. The detail — ATMs that accept foreign cards, IC cards, public Wi-Fi — is on Getting here, so that it stays in one place.
